Lucky 7 Challenge

Way back in June, Eric James Stone tagged me in the Lucky 7 Challenge. June was an insanely busy month for me, and I failed to notice the pingback.

I now feel guilty. So just for Eric, here are the second seven lines on the seventh page of the short story I’m currently writing.

Momma stepped forward, fire in her eyes.
“Lila, where’d this money come from?”
“Don’t matter.”
“You been cheatin’ at basketball again?”
Lila shrugged.
“Cheatin’s a sin, Lila. God’s anger gonna strike at you from heaven.”
“Well, God ain’t our landlord, and he ain’t been eager to pay our debts, either.” In her frustration, Lila felt herself getting louder.

I hereby tag Fran Wilde, Kate Baker, Jeff Spock, Sandra Tayler, Gray Rinehart, Randy Tayler, and Kat Otis. The rules are: Go to page 7 or 77 of your latest work. Read down to the seventh line and then post online the next seven lines or sentences. Then head off and tag seven more writers.
